These ham and cheese sliders with brown sugar are a mix of sweet and salty with a brown sugar glaze. These sliders are quick to assemble and are ideal for an easy appetizer, lunch or weeknight dinner. These are crowd favorites perfect for game day or potlucks.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package sweet Hawaiian rolls (12 count)
- 24 slices deli ham (or leftover thick-cut ham)
- 6 slices cheese (Swiss, Cheddar, Colby Jack, or Pepper Jack)
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Everything But the Bagel seasoning
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Everything But the Bagel seasoning, and red pepper flakes until the sugar dissolves. Set aside.
- Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally to separate the tops from the bottoms. Place the bottom halves in a baking dish.
- Layer a two folded slices of ham onto each roll, then top evenly with cheese slices.
- Place the top halves of the rolls back onto form the sandwiches.
- Stir the warm butter mixture and brush it generously over the tops of the sliders.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the tops are lightly browned.
- Remove from the oven and serve warm.
Notes
- Deli-sliced, thick-cut, Black Forest, or honey ham all work great.
- Swiss, Cheddar, Colby Jack, Pepper Jack, or any good melting cheese can be used.
- If you’re not a fan of spice, leave out the red pepper flakes.
- Salted or unsalted butter both work, but I prefer salted.
- Assemble the sliders earlier in the day and bake right before serving.
