Description

With just a few ingredients, you can have a perfectly crafted, flavorful Bourbon sour cocktail that will never go out of style. This cocktail is sure to impress at a party, but is simple enough to enjoy at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz Bourbon
  • 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup

For the simple syrup

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan on low heat, mix the brown sugar and water. Stir until the brown sugar has completely dissolved into the water. Remove from heat.
  2. Add the Bourbon, lemon juice, lime juice, simple syrup, and ice to a cocktail shaker.
  3. Shake it up then strain into a rocks glass and add fresh ice to top the glass.
  4. Garnish with cherries and orange slices if desired.

Notes

  • Use a Bourbon that you would drink on its own. You don't have to break the bank, but don't go for the bottom shelf.
  • Fresh squeezed juice is by far the best, but bottled juice can be used in a pinch.
  • Adjust the simple syrup to taste. For a sweeter cocktail, add more. For a tarter Bourbon sour, decrease the amount of syrup.
  • You can change up the ratios of the lemon juice and lime juice. A higher ratio of lemon juice keeps this as a more traditional sour cocktail.
